The artist Maria Fragoudaki, in collaboration with the ART HUB Athens Cultural Humanitarian Organization, organize the online charity action #ARTACTSFORKIDS, to support children with vision problems and additional disabilities.

The artist has two collectible prints and four original works of art. This effort aspires, with the help of the global online community that is ready to embrace new and innovative philanthropic efforts, to gather the necessary resources to help the important work of the “Amimoni” Association.

From December 12, 2022 to January 1, 2023, the public will have the opportunity to acquire a work by Maria Fragoudakis, and contribute to the important work of the association.

100% of the revenue from the sales of the projects will be given to support the work of the “Amimoni” Association.

The project “#ARTACTSFORKIDS” is an initiative of Maria Fragoudakis, who intends to carry it out every year by helping children in different institutions and associations.

Maria Fragoudaki and ART HUB Athens with their collaboration want to highlight Art as an important means of social change, reminding all of us that it is up to us to help children find hope again.

A few words about Maria Frangoudaki mariafragoudaki.com

Maria Fragoudaki lives and works between Athens and New York. In her work she uses a variety of visual languages such as painting, sculpture, installation art and performance to create narratives that come to life, using materials including fabric, plaster and paint. Materials and experimentation with them often provide her with the initial impetus for a project. Being a mother of 3 children, she took the initiative to create #ARTACTSFORKIDS in order to help and raise awareness through art for the benefit of all children in need.

18 Years Early Intervention

On the occasion of the completion of 18 years of operation of Amimoni’s Early Intervention program, on Saturday 24/09, an event was held at the facilities of the 1st KAPI Municipality of Ellinikon – Argyroupoli.

To start, Mrs. Paraskevi Bellou – President of the Board of Directors addressed a greeting and Mrs. Christiana Zotou – Amimoni’s Head of Coordination, describing the start of the Early Intervention program in 2004.

The event was coordinated by Mrs. Agapi Papadaki, Program & Development Manager, who presented the program, emphasizing its family-centered nature and the importance of holistic, personalized intervention. The Trainers Mrs. Eleni Vernadaki and Mrs. Melina Papalexi analyzed the structure of the program, emphasizing the goals, the evaluation, and the organization of the intervention (with examples of educational material). Then, Mrs. Ourania Zoi – Mitsi, Social Worker, referred to the integration process, the granting of allowances, school contexts, etc., while Mrs. Sofia Papageorgiou, Psychologist, emphasized the importance of counseling and analyzed the plan to set up parent groups.

This was followed by presentations by the program’s scientific collaborators. Specifically:

• Mrs. Maria Papatzikou – Physical Therapist (NDT/SI), spoke about the relationship of vision function with posture and movement, emphasizing the connection between them and pointed out the role of the physical therapy supervisor in Early Intervention.
• Dr. Nikos Kozeis – Vis. Prof. in pediatric Ophthalmology, University hospitals, Cleveland, USA​, Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology Greece identified functional vision and diseases, focusing on CVI – Cerebral visual impairment (definition and characteristics). At the same time, he emphasized the role of neuroplasticity of the brain and the importance of Early Intervention for children with vision problems.

Finally, the parents who attended asked questions to the speakers, while at the same time they had the opportunity to get to know each other and exchange opinions and experiences.

On Monday, September 26, at the Cafe in the Garden of the Numismatic Museum, the book “The Development of the Blind Child from 0 to 3 Years” was successfully presented.

The book is a translation of the French book of the same title into Greek, it has been published by Amimoni and Kaleidoscope Publications and is the first textbook in Greece for the development of children with visual disabilities.

The event was welcomed by Mrs. Domna Michailidou, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Mrs. Dimitra Nanou, Deputy Regional Governor of the Southern Sector of Athens, Mrs. Paraskevi Bellou, President of the Board of Directors of Amimoni, Mrs. Alexa Apostolaki, Publisher of Kaleidoscope Publications, Mr. Sante Giovannetti, psychologist, from the “La Pepiniere” Center in France and Dr. Ilias Papazisis, General Manager of the HOMED company and sponsor of the Edition.

The central person of the event was Mrs. Nathalie Caffier, one of the two authors of the book, Special educator of the “La Pepiniere” Center, from whom Amimoni received the necessary know-how to create her programs in her first steps.

The panel was completed by Ms. Marina Strothmann, Neuropsychologist, from the Blindeninstitut in Germany, Dr. Nikolaos Kozeis, pediatric ophthalmologist and constant collaborator of the Association, and Mrs. Katerina Lymberopoulou, Special Educator, Trainer in the Early Intervention Program of Amymoni.

The discussion was moderated by Ms. Christiana Zotou, Coordinator of Amymoni.
